As Meek Mill undergoes a legal battle in the wake of his 2-4 year prison sentence, many of his supporters gathered outside of the Criminal Justice Center in Philadelphia on Monday (Nov. 13) to voice their displeasure with the ruling.

Rick Ross was one of the leaders at the event, speaking about his love for Meek in this trying time. “I’m here for one reason, to promote my brother Meek Mill,” he said. “I want y’all to understand that, if it takes Meek Mill to draw this attention, then we’re gonna use Meek Mill to draw this attention, and it’s gonna speak for so many others.”

But the Maybach Music Group boss — who called it a “wrongful incarceration” — wasn’t alone. Fans rapped along to Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares,” the intro and title track off the Philly rapper’s debut album. They also linked up for a “Free Meek” chant while holding up #Justice4Meek signs.

Colin Kaepernick, GQ’s “Citizen of the Year,” took to Twitter to share his support for Meek, as well. “Sadly there are Black folks going through the same radicalized injustice(s) within the justice system that Meek Mill has experienced for over a decade EVERY SINGLE DAY,” he wrote. “This requires more than just gradual reform in laws—It requires a swift overhaul.”

These are just the latest efforts to highlight the case. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf also recently launched a petition to reverse the ruling. Up next, Meek’s legal team is expected to file a motion to have Judge Genece Brinkley removed from Mill’s case.
